Directions

Make Hibachi Butter

  1. Combine softened butter, Sesame Garlic Ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and Mirin into a food processor,  blend until smooth and set aside.

Cook the Fried Rice

  1. Add oil to the skillet
  2. Pour beaten eggs and scramble until they are almost cooked through, then set aside.
  3. Add a tablespoon of butter to the remaining oil to cook the aromatics.
  4.  Add in diced onion - cook for 3 minutes, next add the garlic and cook until fragrant - about 1 minute. Push the garlic and onion to the side,  then add the scallions, peas, and carrots if using, and cook for about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Add rice, breaking up clumps.
  6. Add hibachi butter and Sesame Garlic Ginger. Toast rice with aromatics, butter, and seasonings.
  7. Combine and add soy sauce + mirin.
  8. Cook until lightly toasted, and set aside.

Hibachi Steak

  1. Drizzle steak with olive oil and season with Garlic Salt Pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat cast iron skillet over medium-high.
  3. Add olive oil, then the steak.
  4. Sear for 1-2 minutes undisturbed to build a crust.
  5. Add a spoonful of hibachi butter to baste.
  6. Optional: Add a splash of teriyaki sauce during the last 30 seconds
  7. Remove steak and set aside.

Saute the Hibachi Vegetables

  1.  Add in hibachi butter to the skillet
  2. Add vegetables and cook until tender-crisp.
  3. Add teriyaki during the last minute for a glossy glaze.
  4. Optional: season with more Sesame Garlic Ginger.

Bring Everything Together

  1. Plate fried rice in the center of the dish.
  2. Add the steak to one side
  3.  Add the hibachi vegetables on the other side.
  4. Optional: drizzle teriyaki sauce for extra flavor.
